Why would a lambda be related to a potential oil leak?

I asking because the RS2 has a bit of blue smoke, when driven hard, no blue smoke on start up?

Apologies for bring up old threads/posts again

    Thanks in advanced

It's related to an oil leak in that way that if the turbo is shot the lambda probe sits right behind it and gets all oily.

He did not mean that the lambda probe was causing an oil leak.

I also have blue smoke when driving hard but not at startup or idle.. infact it's now progressed to when it's not driven that hard, just on boost. I'm reasonably sure it's the turbo in my case, and I have another one to put on, I'm just not sure if bolting a turbo that has been lying around for a while onto the car is a great idea.

Run some WD40 through it and then some oil prior to starting, if it was good before it came off it should be ok now.

So long as you have not kept it in a sand pit that is.....

                White smoke...

says water to me...head gasket failed or maybe the water jacket in the head has gone.

Do a compression check on each cylinder and a pressure check of the cooling system.

                Hope you find it.

you should stick with the basic..
1.check your bleeder valve& pressure regulating valve for ventilation system
                  2.check your turbo
3.check valve stem seal,Rings(Do the compression test can give some clue )

mostly, the smoke out always on 1&2
