my tickover is all over the place !!

still got lumpy idle even after changing the icv and sorting the pcv system,the car cuts out more often than not when stopping unless i dab the throttle and brake at the same time if it doesnt cut out the revs drop then rise ,can the tick over be raised
or is this done via the ecu ,i was wondering if it was fuel related ie the fuel pressure reg or the injectors dribbling help !

Do you have a BOV installed?
Have you pressure tested your system?

The ECU is not at fault here. I have fixed many cars with this issue, and this has always been due to unmetered air entering or exiting the system.

have you cleaned your maf? this happened to me a quick clean with IPA did the trick

Strange, I posted earlier and it's not come up...

As above, MAF on mine was covered in a lot of dirt, guessing it was during the ash cloud over the summer. Car wouldn't idle and was lumpy. Cleaned it up and much better. Worth 5 mins' work.

Check codes as well.
If it is due to MAF, you will likely get some error codes.

Mine came up with fuel correction limit exceeded, changed the MAF and it's fine.

THanks guys had it on vagcom(thanks spike)and it only showed the isv fault,had a fiddle with the connection and all is well ,ticks over perfect hot and cold ,no leaks were
Found ,I will give it a run tomorrow see if all is still ok ,yesterday it wouldn't idle

ISV is pretty critical to this idle business, but tis true that air leaks and faulty MAFs can cause issues too.

Check all your vacuum lines on the engine, also try changing the FPR make sure it hasn't knackered
