  • map sensor needed!

Hi guys i need a bosch map sensor for an N reg A4 1.9 tdi engine code Z1 part number is (0 273 003 212) and its 250kpa any help on this would be appreciated as ive spent the last 2 days trying to get one, the main dealer wants the whole ECU to swap for another, then £97.50ph to code it to the car and all of the parts service companys around me cant get one and the vehicle electrical specialists near me cant get one either so if anyone knows where i can get one please let me know thanks Ben

What happened to the old one?

It is very, very unlikely that the MAP sensor is bad.
If it is bad, how was it diagnosed?

That said, I can both supply a MAP sensor and fit it to the ECU, but I am 99% sure it won't solve whatever problem you are having.

Agreed with above as the MAP sensor is pretty robust. The OEM Bosch ones can be hard to track down - especially as new items - you can fit an alternative device though and its available from UK electronics firms - Motorola MPX4250 - easy to fit inside if you read the datasheet and can solder OK. It behaves like the Bosch unit. Physically its not as pretty an install as Bosch OEM part obviously but its perfectly functional.

I have quite a few of Bosch 250 units left over from chipping cars... it's a bit easier to fit, but functionality wise they are completely identical to MPX4250.
If you order only one sensor from an online store, it probably will be quite expensive due to shipping.

map sensor was diagnosed by independent Audi specialist, then the ecu came to me I opened to find full of oil
the map sensor feed pipe was split, I a fit new pipe and 250 kpa map sensor but apparently the problem still persists.

Thats real odd - I had an ECU on the bench a few months back that also had oil inside - just crept in somehow on the base lower base. It was not on the PCB as the white barrier plastic was retaining it... I cleaned it up and it worked fine - I couldnt understand how engine oil had ever got near here. FIgured it must have been in a spares box or somewhere that it got spilt on... and you have another oily one. Very bizarre.

How was the MAP sensor diagnosed though?
I don't know if on this particular car it is possible to log the sensor with vag-com. If it is, then diagnosis should be very easy with a boost gauge.
Otherwise the sensor would need to be desoldered, after which you need a 5V power supply, a pressure gauge, a voltmeter and something to create pressure with.

So changing the MAP sensor did not solve the issue? What is the issue?

On a 1Z I think VAGCOM is limited, but as you say - easy to test them on a bench without any hi tech equipment.

hi guys the local diesel specialists that i took it to said that it can only be the map sensor but as i have read through the posts that you guys have replied with makes me think that he dosnt have a clue

the problem is when you are driving normaly up a hill it will die off as if you were to only use half throttle, but i have put a boost guage on it and it is only running at about 1/4 of a BAR.

any ideas as i have ran out of them?

                      Ben

From what i understand you already had a new sensor fitted. One sensor going bad is very unlikely, two - impossible.

Let someone pull the codes from your car and post them up.

                            Hi everyone

just a quick question, i took the vacume pipe off of the actuator for the waste gate as this should then make the turbo over boost (as far as i know) then took it up the road and it is still only running at about 1/4 of a bar, i have already checked the boost pipes previously and its not a variable vane turbo. has anyone got any ideas or help on this?

Then you have a boost leak I guess...
