Milling out a Headgasket is a no no. Quite simply you get too close to the firing ring. The exact thing that seals the bore from the engines oil and waterways.
Such is the extend of the effectiveness of the firing ring that once you have fitted a metal multi layer Headgasket you can't go back to a fibre one without decking the block as otherwise it doesn't seal properly from the indentations created by the multi layer's firing ring.

Now as a reference point the reason an 81mm bore engine comes with an 82mm bore gasket is to allow for of the shelf 1st and 2nd oversized pistons. So you can use the stock gasket with an 82mm piston. To go to an 82.5mm bore the only of the shelf option would be to ring the block and use the fibre gasket of the 7A lump which favours the bigger bore size.
Much the same as you would with a copper Headgasket. Although instead of paying big money for a copper gasket you can use the stock cheap fibre one with the same results.

Not really ideal as it makes the engine prone to knock. It also starts to eat away at the gasket potentially causing failure in-between the layers. Rather than across the sealing surfaces.

Would that not create a hot spot and therefore possible detonation?

First i tried an Elring gasket and machined it out, it was then i saw the fire ring come off.

This (0.1mm) layer was folded back about 3mm maybe less.

Then i tried a Payen and realised Elring and Payen are the same.

Not tried Victor Reinz but assumed they would have a similar fire ring.

My pistons just come proud of the block so i cant just put a standard gasket on without machining the pistons. I may go down this route as the gasket only protrudes the cylinders by .25mm.

I dont really want the trouble of o-ringing the block, but if i was aware there was so little aftermarket gaskets available i may have done it when the block was bored.

If only it was a 1.8t i would have any gasket i wanted.

^^^^^ firing ring is in the same location on all of them otherwise once you use one manufacturer you can't use another one due to the indentation left on the block so they end up having a standard across the board they have to adhere to.

              Hi,

that mean we have 3 options...

              1. Use the stock 82mm multilayer gasket.
              >Is this so critical with the 0,25mm undersize ???

              2. Machined the 82mm to 83mm stock gasket.
              > A user in Germany did this, i call him ...

              3. Buy a 83mm from PKM.
              > expensive...

Have someone tested the 7a gasket ?

A lot of the cossie boys have gone the route of ringing the block and using fibre gaskets for high boost application as the multi layer metal rallye gaskets for the cossie's seam to let go with over 2.5bar of boost.

Does the o-ring sit on the steel part of the fibre gasket (stupid question maybe)?

Also how far does the ring protrude the block deck?

it means: you have to mill a 0,8mm ring groove around the syl( in the block surface) then you have to put in some sort of pianosteelWire) , the wire does have the oversice , so its about 1,0mm)
the ringgroove have to be done in the maschineshop, where they rebore the syl...., and i have it told it shuould bee about 2mm from the syl surface,on the gasgedplace...
when you have the gasged om, it will bee some more pressured together where the O-ring of wire are, and hold the gasged in correkt posisjon

I would be careful, why would a victor reinz gasket have a different bore to all other HG's.

I once bought a 12mm cnc cut exhaust mani flange from 034 and when it came it was 10mm
