Garret BB turbos, how much play?

how you calculate,what is recommend for your egine?

I work out 2bar on a 2.2l engine with 90% ve at 7000rpm is 52lb/min.

And 2bar at 5500rpm is 40lb/min.

What ve did you use on your calculations?

On the excel file at 7000 RPM and 2 bar i see 54lbs/min (was looking wrong before)

and 2 bar at 5500 with 95% VE gives 45 lbs/min ( it is in the map but the 2 bar 7000 isnt).

Ok, you can run 2bar to 6750 rpm, at 49.5lb/min at 90% ve.

I would say 95%ve is over enthusiastic in genral for a standard engine.

It's all theory anyway, unless anyone wants to measure the compressor outlet temps at different boost levels.

I cant as i have a 35r turbo.

The garret gtr turbos have a lot of play. This is normal. Along as the wheels don't contact the housing they are fine.

I was surprised how much play my new turbo has.

I have GT2871 on my UrS6.I need to recall it back to the first day I received the GT-Turbo.I do believe
that there's a minimal ticking noise when spinning the impeller with hand.I'm so confidenced that is normal
to be hearing the bearing sound before it was getting feed by the oil.I'm still running it with the chip on the
fins on compressor wheel with 1,8 Bar Boost.I'm sure GT-Turbo is reliable.

Stick it back on John, I had a 4094R for sale which was unused and that was very noisy as already mentioned in the thread.
