Just to follow this up by saying I tried my local TPS in Byker and they are spot on! Cost me £43 for 5 plugs, (£7.18 ex vat) as mentioned elsewhere in the post I think. No issues at all about not being trade, was nenver mentioed, and even had a good bit crack about how good S2’s are!! He’d already price the job up and done the invoice so I didn’t push it this time for a bit of Forum discount! Maybe next time tho!

The next best I’ve found otherwise is a guy on ebay who sells a set for £49, but there’s postage on top of that which made then about a tenner dearer than TPS all in.

Unfortunately, it didn’t cure my mis-fire problem, but the plugs were well overdue for a change anyway!

Have you guys tried NGK BKR7e? They run great in my 3b at 21psi on my 56mm turbo...Cost for a set of 5 is about the same as a single Bosch plug. If you don't like that, there are always the Bosch FR5DTC's that work equally as well or better than F5DP0R and are MUCH cheaper. I've run both alternatives with good results.

I had a missfire had NGK in the motor re fitted new NGK,s still had missfire. Changed them for Bosch missfire gone. Great. We use NGK plugs in all the turbo bikes with no problems at all we do gap them down a lot. MRC said the s2 aby don,t like NGK plugs.I don,t no why Bosch are better than NGK as NGK must make more plugs than Bosch all i no is it sorted missfire.

I'd think you were having gap issues or something. Who knows though. The tri-ground strap Bosch's eliminate any gap error, so thats why those are convenient. Still, I'd say that for most applications with the plugs set up correctly, NGK is a really nice alternative. Regardless, if you aren't comfortable with NGK's, look into the FR5DTC. They have been proven on these engines to very high power levels and are so much cheaper.

My uncalled for tuppence re the misfire, consider renewing the rotor and distributor cap, then if no joy, the leads ?

Feel you irritation, one of my pos' units on the ABY recently went faulty, great to have a spare and to know what to do, (due to all on this forum), fixed in three minutes, spent longer trying to fine the spare one in the chaos that passes for my garage.

            Kind regards.

Yes its a bit of a pita at the moment! -Its a very erratic and intermittent misfire, sometimes barely there, then other times the car is proper hiccing along! Does it when cold too and when idling, so not just under load

I changed the cap and rotor when I swapped the dizzy over last year, so that shouldnt be the culprit. Leads is my next shot as you suggest. Also thought about the fuel pump, tho I think they tend to just go ay which point the car does start rather than anything else! Got a new fuel filter to put on too,

Bloody annoying tho! And sorry about the thread hijack! cheers Paul

No chance of a gap error as the NGK where tri-electrode as the bosch. As stated NGK make more plugs than bosch by fare. Also the shop busa (GSXR1300) Did over 700bhp on NGK and we have big hp bikes all running NGK.Having said that i,ll never put them in my s2 again just incase the car started to missfire again. But would be intrested in the bosch plug you,ve mentioned. Are they singel electrode ?.I,m not realy to worried how many electrodes a plug has, you only get one spark so long as its gaped and in good order then all should be good.

Interesting. For the record, I meant to say tri-ground strap as they all only have one electrode, but 3 ground straps...sorry. Anyway, the ones I mentioned are tri-ground strap. I'm sure you can get them anywhere, but Marc Swanson of EFIExpressalways stocks them for a decent price.

so would the FR5DTC be good enough for 2.2bar of boost, heavy duty coils and 500hp?

I believe its been proven to much more than that. I'll ask Mr. Swanson to reply

In reply, I was told that Janis with his 650whp coupe quattro uses them and Javad used them to make 800whp.
