If it happens to be the Hall Sender. I have an illustrated procedure to replace the 3B Hall Sender sitting there on the back burner, waiting for me to finish it. Maybe later today.

right just to let you all know i have tracked down the fault my fuel pump has given up and died. i took off the feed pipe from the fuel rail and put it in a milk bottle cranked the engine over and nothing came out at all . took the fuel pump out and tested it direct off the battery and nothing happened dropped it on the floor a couple times then retested it and away it went it packed up again shortly afterwards so a new one is needed.
thanks to everyone who offered ideas and posible causes and pauls sticky is a deffo need to be read when having a no start situation.
        thanks all dennis

just to finish this thread off my car is up and running again fitted the new fuel pump on saturday and away she went. had a miss fire on number one which turned out to be a failed spark plug not sure why it would go as well, but i did drop one of them may be it was down to that.
a bit of info for you all on testing the fuel pump, when i did a continuity test on the failed pump with it in the car the resistance started at about 5 ohms and kept rising untill it went out of range of my metre this would point to worn out brushs or a very bad contact between brushs and com, meaning the pump motor is no good or realy poor so i didn't really need to take off a fuel pipe. when checking the new one i got a constant beep and more or less no resistance .hope this may be of help to some one when testing there unit . one more thing the brown wire is the negative and the green and yellow is the positive/feed this is the wires in the plug connecting to the top of the fuel tank.
