Drop in 3B fuel pressure regulator?

    Hey guys,

I just finished up putting some new goodies on my 1991 200 20v including a GT3076r and VEMS and it's running great so far! I am still running stock fuel pump and pressure regulator (3bar) with Siemens Deka 870 cc injectors for my fueling system. Tuning up to 16psi is fine but anything over there and I am running out of fuel. I know it can't be the injectors as they are way more then enough for a 30r. I wanted to ask you S2 guys if maybe your stock FPR is higher then 3 bar or if there is a direct replacement like the AAN (and newer vw/audi) engines have available to them?

I plan on getting an 044 for the pump and bump the pressure if I can.

A few vids for your viewing pleasure:

    Here's a few pics of the car/project:

    Thank you in advance!

one more audi 200 20v fun.. so I'm not alone...

        nice project..

I use 4.0bar FPR from audi V6 engine.. every audi V6 engine have 4.0 FPR.. it is very easy to find it and work great.. you will need a little modification , and problem will be sold.
if you want I can post you an picture of my FPR..

Haha, thank you man! You can see my whole build thread over here: http://www.motorgeek.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=30131

I'd love a pic if you can post one up. Any year V6?

What is the stock fuel pump and is it enough? Or should I definitely replace it with an 044?

you definetly must use 044.. stock pump can't deliver enough fuel , and now i think that your problem is not FPR .. you have not enough stong fuel pump..

you can use FPR from old 2.8 v6 engine.. the first 2.8 engine in audi.. in 1. A6 are this engine. I think 127kW have..

nice project , but now I sow that you didn't open the engine and change the rods.. why?
this engine will not go so long..
you must change it to some H-rods.. safety first..

Perfect. 044 is on it's way to me then.

I plan on doing the engine up this coming winter and just run very conservative boost/tuning until then. I plan on doing some 9.5:1 pistons, Pauter rods, new rod and main bearings as well as build up the head. I also plan on ditching the stock exhaust manifold for a custom equal length tubular manifold.

                  Your injectors are huge overkill.
Change your fuel pump, I am 99% sure it is not holding pressure or almost dead.

GT3076 tends to be fine on 440-550cc injectors at 4 bar. Your injectors are double the size... enough for 700+hp, which you will never reach with this turbo.
The FPR is fine. A drop-in FPR would be 7A, 4.2bar, but I honestly doubt your problem is the FPR.

What is your injector duty at?

                    Something i do not understand.
2.2 T FPR is working with less pressure in vac and more in boost.
2.6 or 2.8 fpr works only in vac,and i imagine more vac more pressure on fuel rail.
How will work 2.6 fpr when boost aplied?less pressure in rail?So what is the point?

                    Regards

                    As you speak about 2.8 i guess v6 is not 2.7 t but 2.6 E.

Do you guys happen to know if I can just drop the 044 right into the stock in tank assembly? Or run it inline?

I knew when I purchased the injectors that they were indeed way overkill. I got a great deal on them and will now never need another set of injectors if I do decide to go bigger with the turbo. For large injectors they idle perfect too!

The duty cycle is what told me I am out of fuel (pump). When tuning for boost off of the wastegate spring (12-13psi) the duty cycle is relatively low. When I upped the boost to 17-18psi it started to get lean no matter how high I set the VE in VEMS right up until the injectors were at 90+% duty cycle. This is what told me I need more pump/pressure.

ok what is the point? 50% people on this forum use 7A FPR.. how could they? 7A is non turbo engine, if I remember well.

my FPR from 2.8 V6 have the same Audi number like s4 (aan) .. so what is the point?

FPR is FPR.. it's not matter from witch engine they are..

Full throttle on an N/A goes to 0 vac just like on a turbo engine before boost so it still increases fuel pressure when coming from say 20in/mg at idle to 0 at WOT.

So, you diagnosed your problem yourself correctly.
What for do you need us then?

Basically, you don't need to change the FPR. Just get the 044 fitted and that's it.
