    Hybrid Rs2 Turbo

i'm looking to make a hybrid out of my spare Rs2 turbo.
i have a broken k27 turbo floating about in my locker.

basically,i will be using the rs2 hotside and bearing housing with 360 degree mated to k27 huge coldside.
i believe this will easly push this rs2 hybrid past the 400 bhp mark.

    what do you guys think?

SOunds vaguely plausible - what is the K27 coldside numbering as there might be a compressor map online somewhere that would give some insight on its theoretical limit - assuming the ikkle RS2 hotside can spin the compressor sufficiently well.

I have spent a good 30 mins looking for a map on line... not hopeful at the minute. Seems to be unique to the Porsche 930 - some old air cooled antique - frog like appearance with ditch sensors installed on both rear wheels

I don't hold much hope for the turbo if the wiki is right and says that in factory trim a 3.3 liter version only managed 330bhp - maybe on that engine size you could see bigger boost and fuel for ~400bhp but I doubt it on 2.2liters... Get a 2nd opinion from a trusted turbo specialist who has access to the KKK maps.

I have a K27 hybrid. The MD147. Paul - did you ever find a map for this?

I'd like something KKK and stock replacement fit, similar spool as the stock RS2, but reading your posts Paul the MD147 has cut-back turbine blades and is never going to spool like stock... perhaps I can re-use the compressor side. Or there's some new-fangled compressor wheel for the stock RS2 that will give that extra bit of top-end? Will be interesting to see what you can make outta this

Hmmm, I'm sure theres a market for a hybrid RS2 unit that spools as fast or faster than stock, delivered 700nm and held enough boost for 400-420 ponies reliably, can it be done?

i spoke to a turbo specialist and he reckon this family of kkk k27 is (called 3LDZ TURBO) very unique and hard to find.the compressor housing is identical to the Rs2,but much bigger in terms of radius.Rs2 measures 140mm with 67mm recess and K27 measures 158.7mm with 83mm recess.the back backplate is exact thesame as all the k27 k28 turbo's.
the 3LDZ k27 bearing housing and backplate comes as one complete unit and cannot be removed

found A UPGRADED compressor wheel map of 3LDZ K27 TURBO
                    here are some pics

with these new light weight compressor wheels like billet, spooling will be much faster than the old heavy one's.

Don't get too excited - that 3ldz turbo technology is from the 70s - comes with a pair of flared trousers and a 'shangalang' sticker for the back of the car :-)
