Does anyone have a photo or two of the inside of an ABY sump ?
Also how hard and what's involved in taking off a sump for a healthy road going car, i.e. one that is not being parted or having it's front suspension components being refurbished.
Not so great quality however.. and supposing that the ADU sump is the same as ABY
Dit it again about last week, and on a ramp I did it in 30 minutes, nothing to it
Just loosen the rear subframe bolts, and take out the ones in the front (4 times an 18)... it'll drop a fair amount so you can easily reach the ones at the rear of the sump.
For getting it back on, the 2 you have to put in trough the holes in the gearbox can be a bit tricky though! Do those at the beginning, because when you drop them in the sump you can take it off again
Just in the middle of doing this myself, so I'll report back tomorrow as to how tricky it is.
Any close up photos to show the areas inside is what I'm keen to observe. I want to work out what's left in the sump if one uses a pipe in through the dip stick to suck out the used oil when changing the oil and the oil filter. I also open the oil cooler connection pipes separately to get a bit more old oil out at this point in the oil system.
"two grumpy kids and the odd fight with the missus about 'that bloody car".
Loved this bit from Paul's write up seemed scarily familiar. His write up is has all of the emotion I experience when working on these S2s, he conveys it so well.
This is mine from today. It's a tricky job to do with the engine in the car, not too bad getting it apart but trying to get the sump, gaskets and windage tray back on is very tricky. You need to patience of a saint!
