    Motronic Mapping N75 or Manual Boost?

    What are the pro's and cons of mapping with a N75 and without?

    I have the more robust (s2 bo supplied?) N75, so would hope it is less likely to fail.

    The engine is built for 400-450bhp.

    Thanks
    Angus

      Booked with MRC. Have considered at least one other that does not use the N75.

      Why, have I opened a can of worns.....

        Keep the N75 on and go with MRC.

          N75's work fine on 400+ hp cars.
          Using the N75 you will have better spool.

          Also:
          If the mixture goes lean and there is knock, the ECU will be able to cut boost before your engine blows up.
          If your timing belt slips a tooth, it will also be able to remove the boost before your engine blows up.

          Comparing manual boost control with electronic is like comparing a carburettor with electronic fuel injection.

                  Motronic's boost control of 1990 is far more advanced than any standalone boost controller on the market today.

                          Don't dispute that, but it cant give you different boost per gear nor is it adjustable by the none motronic minded peeps. and it controls my water meth injection.

                            Please show me at least one controller with:
                            * Adaptive, mappable boost control based on RPM and TPS 3D maps.
                            * Adaptive, mappable per-cylinder knock monitoring
                            * Cylinder individual timing trim on knock events
                            * Knock event based boost reduction
                            * Altitude correction for boost
                            * IAT correction for boost
                            * Safe boost limit
                            And a myriad of other features.

                            There is no standalone boost controller offering this, that I am aware of. Of course today's ECU's come close, but not all.
                            Also, having the same boost in each gear is the "holy grail" of boost controllers... for obvious reasons.

                              I can name you one that's unreliable...

                              I'm not disputing how good the N75 motronic system is but its certainly not the most reliable. I have replaced seven in my ownership of high powered Audi's and the majority have produced boost spikes when shot.
