        Ah. Yes.

Got it in time then. I note http://www.aet-turbos.co.uk/ and perhaps others won't accept turbos in exchange if the shaft has snapped.

So - has the smoke now gone away?

Still getting a bit on start up but think its just excess burning off, been told this will last a few days. may have a breather blockage somewhere too but not sure, seems some oil has come out the dipstick.

Ooops. A pressurising crankcase is pretty low on most people's Christmas lists.

This maybe a stupid question but it in a Monday.
Im looking at installing a new manifold so need to remove the turbo. Do I have to drain the oil out of the engine or can I do it without drianing as the oild is pretty new.

No need to drain, it will dribble a little bit of oil from the line, but nothing a rag cant deal with. The coolant circuit will make more of a mess so i recommend draining it into a bucket first and pour it back in when you are done. Also disconnect the water lines from the turbo first and get that mess over with before undoing the oil lines, i.e. to avoid water getting down into the sump.
