  • PIN SWAP i did it, RS4 B7 Coils inside¡

hello friends, today at 21:30 hours i have finished the pin swap in my 3B engine and it started at the first time¡¡

now using RS4 B7 coils .... now i think the engine bay looks better

but i have a small problem.... NOW THE REV COUNTER IN THE SPEEDO DOES NOT WORK¡¡¡ it is always in 0Revs...

do you know wich could be the reason?
    the new AAN ecu?
    the new chips??
some mistake in the pin swap???

    thanks friends¡¡

Likely a mistake in pin swap. Will check my books later. From memory rpm signal from AAN is pin 40 but let me check.

        So - looking at books.....

RPM is pin 40 (forty) on AAN
RPM is pin 06 (six) on 3B

Swap that pin and you are good. Are you sure you got them all ?

Here is the complete table you need to check against... some people seem to think its a trivial or quick thing to change 6 or 7 wires around - its NOT.
Make sure you have F76 correct and VSS in place as well - for the launch control I expect is coming your way !

          Any questions - just shout.

Thats an easy to remember total of 22 (~2.2 liters) pin swaps on the ECU plug to do it all properly.

Rocco: Good job. Photos of the installed coils please.

As for the rev counter, Paul already has it figured. That said, this link gives you the AAN ECU harness wire colours (e.g. V/BK for pin 40):

Sleep deprivation is a terrible thing... but there is some upside I suppose. All wires coloured across three schematic years for 3B and a complete 37 step process to how you juggle those 22 pins for a successful conversion. I am tired as hell - so PLEASE make your own checks and dont take this as gospel truth - if anyone wants to use it and comment back on accuracy that would be great.

hi friends, 22 pin swaps?? i only did 18 ....

i was following the instructions that took from a German Guy who has sold me the wiring and coils necessary to complete the comversion

and now seeing the Paul Nugent suggestions i am seeing that my 3B pin 40 was swaped in to the 41 , so it should be installed in my 6 pin true??

and my pin 6 was swaped in the pin 50 ¡¡¡

so,surelly making this .... will see my rpm reving again

i will show you the instructions from the german guy.

With all respect to the german source - he has some mistakes there... I dont know if my list is 100% perfect but I have spent a lot of time poring over S2 / RS2 diagrams across the years. Use my list.

Pin 6 & 40 need to swap on 3B to ABY
                            Keep 41 where it was

F76 is the MFTS R pin which needs to move from 3B#36 to ABY#46

VSS is vehicle speed signal - needed for launch control amongst other things - get a new pin into ABY#50 for this - spliced from blue/white behind radio
