Boost Cut !

At the worst possible moment resulting me getting toasted by a mk5 Golf GTI

Ignition off and back on (whilst moving) and it's gone

MAF has only a few thousand miles on it

Is it worth changing the knock sensors if so dose anybody know the rough cost?

PS due to financial constraints been running on 95ron. Car is defiantly down on power and MPG. Will be buying a tank of Vpower tomorrow and never putting anything else in again.

Sounds like maf connector to me

Cheap petrol = pinking = knock sensors sending warning signal to ECU = ECU cutting boost to reduce pinking.

I hope it's the fuel as that is a cheap fix.

clean it , pushing it on and off 10 times worked for me.

I don't think so. Have a read on the post below. You didn't pull a code for the knock sensors so I would have to assume that it something else.

Did not know faulty knock sensors would throw a code.

Well no not really, knock sensors are a feedback device, if they feedback incorrect knock signals then the ecu will retard, it doesn't know if the knock is real or not.

They don't throw codes as s2central says unless they short out

Feedback from knock sensors = functioning AS required. I never said they would throw a code just because they are activated and send a pinking report to the ECU. I was agreeing with Paul.

I'm having the exact same problems, my maf is only 2000km's old and one year.

At some point she doesn't "go" as fast i'm used to and than in 3rd gear (mostly) at wot she gets a boostcut and i can't give her full throttle in any gear without getting a boost cut.
Than when i turn the ignition on and of while driving she goes like stink!

Have allready tried cleaning the maf connector (even though it looks new) with contactcleaner.

Going to order both Knock sensors next week and replace them see if that helps.
