    hesitation and harsh "cut"

Recently my s2 aby has been playing up. It sometimes seems to hesitate before around 3000 rpm and twice has developed a really harsh "cut" just as it seems to be ready to come on to boost, its like hitting a brick wall.

The first time this happened i checked around plugs injectors boost leaks and then i checked the air flow metre, and it was full of vaseline i cleared this out and that seemed to clear the problem for a week or so and then it happened again!!!

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? and what the caused the problem or combination of problems?

This is my first s2 and any help would be great.

    Cheers

Hi, I had a problem like this, on mine it was the coil pack wires - where they exit the cover, the insulation had broken - did a temporary repair with this stuff about 10 months ago ????

      Vaseline? That doesn't sound good.

I suspect a MAF issue (still getting dirty inside, bad connection, etc.) However, you might want to check this post out for other considerations:

Have you fitted a new 'performance' air filter or pannel? Sounds like it's getting coated in some oil from that.

Amateur re-oiling of a K&N panel (or cone) filter typically over does it and *has* been known to kill a MAF or two (at least temporarily until the MAF is cleaned)

Normally this kind of behaviour would be caused by a boost leak or MAF (or MAF Connector) problem. I would check carefully for boost leaks (if possible do a proper boost leak pressure test) and clean the MAF connector.

It would also be very useful to pull the fault codes, this can be done with Vagcom on a PC but also can be done with an LED or bulb by the Blink Test method which is decribed on S2Central.
