Just to add - on the 558's - this is the source I found yesterday, reply to confirm stock, in case anyone else wants them:

Thanks for the interest, Ross. You've got the correct part number and we have those injectors in stock/ready to ship immediately. Place your orderand we'll take care of you immediately. Cheers, P.S. The "Green Giant" injectors are 39.5lb/415cc, anyway. Anybody that calls them 42lb/440cc simply doesn't know what they're talking about. ;-)

If you can get proper 558s then go for it. Even better with asnu report.

How about buying from here? I think these are Deka 628cc?? Is there a long or short version to consider? Connectors look the same.

VAG PARTS SHOP I OUR SEVICES I REMAPPING I ABOUT US I JABBA MOTORSPORT

        A bit pricey though!?

I could source some bosch 558 but I think they are not going to give me enough scope for power, I want to have the option of going upto/over 450bhp.

I don't fancy trying any of the Volvo options, or having to adapt EV14's.

Reccomended by MRC and surely they should know what works on this kind of setup?

They will be mapping it (if they get their equipment fixed)

It works fine on WOT and high load, but it is not good on low load.
This is because you are running the injectors outside the manufacturer's specification on this engine - and this is just a fact.

Anyway, go for it, you made up your mind already in the first post. Good luck.

P.S. 90 quid for one of these is a complete ripoff.

The proper 558's are available new from USRT. They don't recommend it for multi-valve heads due to the single stream injection on 1.8T engines, but isn't it pretty much the same spray pattern as RS2? If that's the case I'll go with it anyway, RS2's have always been fine on the I5, keeps things simple and cost down.

The recommendation is Genesis or Bosch EV14 for dual-stream spray pattern for accuracy of fuel injection from what I've read. I know I'm being indecisive, just want to make the best choice for the engine. Any thoughts?

Do you have issues with idle?

no, if i were to change them it would be mainly to see if there is going to be improvement with cruise and accel. enrichments to allow for better fuel economy. if teh EV14 are more precise in low PW, then i believe the fuel management would be improved.

I use 558's. Works great on I5 motronic... But my next injectors would be EV14's.

                            I haven't decided yet.

                            What about Bosch 0280 150 403 Grey 503cc

The cosworth boys use these I think? They might be a bit old tech, but the flow seems about right.

Good flow but it's a low impedance type at ~3ohms vs the 12-15 we need. Also the min pulse width isn't great either at 1.3ms.

What do you need for idle conditions on motronic? They cost 50 euros a piece. Are the equal in flow Bosch items that better or you can't make motronic run well at idle with such big injectors (is there a limit of somekind)? This is genuine question here. I want to understand!

I think those injectors used in the cosworths also don't atomize that well or the spray pattern is very narrow.
