    Knock sensors cracking

Noticed with sorting my water manifold out that the two knock sensors which are bolted to the side of the block have cracked on the plastic outer which is bonded to the metal sleeve which the bolt passes thorugh.

While i have decent access I guess I should replace them but two things:

    1) Whats the impact of them being cracked? They certainly didnt appear to affect performance or knock detection in that condition
    2) can anyone confirm the part number of the longer, front sensor?

    Cheers
    David

G61 and G66 Knock Sensor info

I think you are asking for electrical issues if the plastic is cracked. I would replace. Here is the info about PNs, etc. that you seek:

i replaced both on my car...and they were in good shape but i did not want to play with rthe risk of the dangerous knocks...

This is one of mine knock sensors:

Does it work, I don't know..? It should be possible to test them by plugging them to your pc's soundcard, they should work like microphones.

would ABY ones work in a 3b engine. they appear to interchange with several engines but the 3B ones have distinct part numbers. Presume its down to lead length more than anything else?

All of these not on general stock in the UK which is a PITA, along with G62 coolant sensor. Anyone know of any locations which might have them?

Order them from your local Bosch dealer, they are like 1/3 the price of the dealer
