This question is wrong. There is no answer to this question.
You boost until it stops making power or you hit thermal limits.
Boost does not equal cylinder filling, so this question does not have an answer.
From observation - generally you will hit knock limit if you boost more than 2.1 bar on 98 RON in midrange on std. cams. But if you tune the car wrong, you will bend your rods even at 1.5 bar.
Turbo still not finalised ?

Whilst on the subject, how much psi is it safe to run on the standard pistons/compression ratio. This may influence my decision.Leave a comment:

Look out for the new gtx2867r guys. 450hp turbo low lag. Looks good.
I would like to experiment with its compressor on mine. Should spool faster with no worry of surge as its a ported housing and flow as well as a 56 trim gt2871r.Leave a comment:

I see. I always thought the T3, T4 etc used Garretts own flange design and the K24, K26 etc were the Borg Warner design. Intersting that Ive never heard of a KKK cold side on a T3 flange.
This should give me more scope to get a turbo built to my requirements this side of the pond. I may even be able to get my current K26/T04E hybrid (although I guess thats not a hybrid either) modified to take the GTturbine.Leave a comment:

OK let me repeat It's not a hybrid!!!!
It's a standard garret turbo GT with this hotside for the 2871 http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant...egory_Code=GTH
or this for for the gt30 series http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant...egory_Code=GTH
When you buy a brand new garrett it comes without the turbine housing you then buy the correct housing for your application.
Don't be suckered in by 034 saying it's a special hybrid as that is ******Leave a comment:

Go 3071, you won't regret it...
It's very responsive down low, and you will be able to use all the potential of the stock rods.
2871 is a bit meh in my opinion.Leave a comment:

Sorry my mistake, I meant im considering the k26/gt2871 hybrid from 034

Being in the market for a new blower myself I have been following this and related threads.
Hope you dont mind me throwing a question in. I read along the way of someone having reliabilty issues with a turbo from 034 motorsport after only 600 miles, something to do with heat sheilding for internal rather than external wastegates. Just wondered if anyone else has had issues with the GT range (Ive almost settled on a Gt2871).
Are there any UK suppliers of the same hybrids?
Not that I want to put them down, I've only had good experience with them in the past.Leave a comment:

the same as mine then
i have the same EVO manifold ...and i had to rotate the coldside, because if not there are not enough space. now it is around 1mm between them
, or maybe LESS¡¡
but the most important now its the new compressor wheel....

I got pretty scared when installing my K26/27 to my Wagner EVO manifold... only like 1mm between the intakehousing and the manifold
Massive difference to a stock RS2 intake side... cool stuff

Brian is in Mansfield near Nottingham.
Regardless of any measurements I think a proper day needs to be organised, free of charge that we can all of us do a couple of runs and get similar measurements. I'm sorry but I dont trust any dyno no matter what reputation it has. I trust GPS readings and weight. Even the dyno I am scheduled to go, I won't even bother with any final figure.

Where is Tonks?? I'm a bit far down in Swindon that's the problem... lots going on at the moment so taking time out to go anywhere is a problem!
I do intend on booking a dyno run up at MRC soon though, trust me I am just as intrigued as anyone to know what power the car is making! I've over analysed Dmitri's log many times, calculated FATS and 60-90 times from it (4.0s fats, 3.9s 60-90) and fed my plots into 'Virtual Dyno' and other online gimmicks...
Assuming the 4 of us in the car during mapping weigh a total of 300kg, 60kg fuel and 25kg for tools, jacks, axle stands etc in the boot, and 1560kg is the only figure i can find for an RS2 wet weight minus fuel... total 1945kg. I tend to get 360-380WHP estimates from all these calculators. 18% loss ~ 435-460hp at the crank.Leave a comment:

Well ill be at Tonk's next Saturday, I don't know if that is closer to Ross, but there are some nice straight roads there for a 3d and a 4th gear
