    Not boosting!!

    92 3B - Homefry.

    Help needed again please!!

I had a huge boost leak - I could hear pressure escaping from a split hose and when the clutch was pushed in it sounded like I had a huge dump valve and the car would only rev to 5000 rpm. I have now replaced the accordion hose to the side of the head light and all the small bore hoses running around the engine bay, fitted a new dump valve, and fitted a hose around the 'o' ring on the intercooler, the car revs freely but rather than boosting to 1.5 bar I am only getting 1 bar - can anyone help.

Check your WGFV and clear your fault codes on the ECU and give it another go.

      Cheers Greg,

I realise this may be a stupid question to many of you guys - but where is the WGFV? and how do I clear the fault codes?

Waste Gate Frequeny Valve. Its the N75 valve with 3 boost connections fitted just above the diverter valve. This controls the amount of overboost you can have.

to clear the faults open your fuse box, there should be a little red cover over 2 fuses saying 'moteur' take this 2 fuses out for a couple of mins the refit.

I have ordered a new WGFV from VAG parts £44 - I figure it's 12 years old and could do with replacing.
          Thanks Greg

Forgot to ask - does the WGFV have a fuse, I looked in the fuse box under the bonnet and could'nt see it?
I also noticed a relay in the fuse box with terminals in the top for a fuse, but mine has not got one fitted, should it have, if so what rating???
            Thanks

I dont think that a homefried 3B should be boosting to 1.5bar anyways?? Thats more than a stock RS2. I might be wrong. After changing all these parts, does the car go any better? Is it still making the 'whooshing' noise?

My 3B, with just the homefry, showed about 20lbs on the gauge which converts to 1.378951 Bar

The WGFV has not arrived yet, but the 'whooshing' noise has gone and throttle response feels much better, just need to find out why it's not boosting as it was......

I have now replaced the WGFV and am now back to full boost (1.5 bar) After replacig these parts the car is much quicker and more responsive, I rekon it must have had a boost leak since I have owned it.

1.4bar is about right for max boost on a homefried 3B or ABY - of course it tails off to about 0.9 on the redline cos the wee compressor can't take it.
