    Which Turbo?

Looks like I'm having to bite the bullet for a bigger turbo sooner rather than later.

Unfortunatelly due to the fact I got the KKK Evo manifold it means whatever Turbo I choose for is going to require a new mani and downpipe.

Would love to have seen what the 3076 was going to do but I knew it was always going to be a stepping stone for something bigger.

Having driven the car over the last week at 400hp and most of my friends reckoning it feels faster than my old 528hp setup due to the way it delivers, confirmed by the feeble attempt at them trying to grab onto door handles as I go in and out of corners has led me to the conclusion I don't wish to go too big.

I'll leave the pub figures for those that wish to chase pub figures and instead seek a sensible 625-675 driveable target.

Which so far has pointed me at 2 turbo's

    1) HTA GT3576/86 with Tial v-band hotside

    2) EFR 8374 with T3 0.83

Obviously open to further suggestions of any other turbo in that sort of power bracket.

Don't you think that you can already hit 600 on the turbo you have now by running more boost?
35R is a lot laggier than 30R, but the power involved is something different as well...

I don't know which wastegate you are running, but AFAIK the stock gate might have issues...

At the moment I got a ported 34mm stock wastegate. If I go for the EFR it has one incorporated into it that is matched for the power band. If I go for the HTA I need to upgrade.

Personally I dont think much more than 550 can be had from the current 30R as it doesn't appear to like 2+ bar of boost for long periods of time by the looks of it as the current turbo has just seen shy of 30K miles in 2 years and always sounded like it was screaming it's nuts of during that period. Being rebuild once already at less than a 1000miles. I like the idea of going bigger and only having to run 1.6-1.8bar and stay in the efficiency island of the turbo.

I guess it is all a matter of perspective.

I think these EFR are fancy but crazy expensive.

Go for a Holset HX40. Easy for 600+ hp (depending on the turbine housing). If something happens (most probably wont happen) you can rebuilt it yourself and have a shop balance it for you.

For easy installation and low lag you can for starter machine a K26-6 turbine housing and use it as is.

Check this out for pictures and info

here a small clip at 1.3 / 1.4 bar tapering to 1.1 on stock RS2 setup with vems

              Agree with HX40.

Runs up to 3 bar boost without fail...

If I was getting a turbo today it would be a efr. Even if that ment saving up or selling something. They look the best on paper and also initial tests look great.
