Right, had a look a few pumps this afternoon as I'm in the workshop at home. I have my original 1990 S2 pump, a 1991 C3 100 Turbo pump, and a 1991 NG engine CQ pump all are Bosch units with the VW/Audi part number 895 906 091, Bosch part number 0580 254 031. All have the damper. My 1992 NG Coupe has a Pierburg pump VW/Audi part number 895 906 091B with no damper. I have a hunch post 1992 cars have a Pierburg pump and no damper and all pre 1992 cars have the dampened Bosch unit regardless of being K-jet or EFI. I may be completly wrong and I'd still like to know why the Bosch pump has the damper.
