Try some of the equipment rental companies... used to deal with them in a past life for renting logic analysers and wacky optical gear.
You dont need anything fancy here - just two channels with maybe 1MHz bandwidth - very slow in modern scope terms.
You could try a single channel scope of course - using G40 signal as the reference point... and then the G4 pulse should arrive in the middle of that... if G4 doesnt arrive within the G40 window then you should be able to see that clearly enough.
I had to do this once on a handheld single channel scope... its not as cool or sexy as the multichannel but its just enough to do the job.
They do seem AWFULLY cheap so buyer beware, but then again - for £20 ish they might be worth a punt... our applications on the car are not very demanding so even they have a low spec on these things they could be fine - as long as they dont ingest noise and/or crappy software makes them terrible to use in the real world.
I think I will have take a punt on one... no pain - no gain !
Just had a look at the spec on those cheapy scopes.... bandwidth is appallingly low... max frequency is below 4kHz - it is for low end audio application.
It would run out of puff to count flywheel teeth on the S2 at less than 30rpm !
