Replacing Rods = Sump Off / Subframe Off ?

If one wants to replace the rods on an ABY while it is still remains in the car, is it, take off the head and also the sump, but to be able to remove the sump, the subframe needs to come out ?

Anyone whose BTDT might post their advices or comments ?

    Any pertinent links ?

    Thanks in advance.

Never done it myself, but im pretty sure at worst youd just need to loosen te rear bolts and remove te front ones and let it hang down to give you enough room to play with. Te bolts are pretty long.

head of and sump of. lower subframe.

You'll need to track the car again afterwards as that'll go out

Loosen the 2 in the back, take of the 2 in the front. Pull the subframe down and with the right tools it will go fine.

On a ramp I had the sump off in about 40min last time.

After you hav lowerd the subframe ect... my tip is to remove the two bolts at the back of the sump that you need an extension to get at through the holes in the gearbox bell housing (if its the same as a 3b) can be tricky, have a magnet at hand or better magnetic tool head. but from there its plain sailing (until u go to put the first few blts back in...
