    Engine Installation Advice

Hopefully today is the day my engine and box go back in

I'm just wondering if there's anything i've forgotten to do before it all goes back in. If there's anything important to do before the engine goes back in, could you please let me know and hopefully avoid the moments later.

Might also be a useful resource for the future!

    Thanks!

my only advice would be assemble engine and box together on the deck, get into position under the car then just lift it up into position.

thats the plan so far. Just put the flywheel and clutch on. Gearbox next then subframe, downpipe etc then in!

its more like the things around the engine that will become a complete pain once the engine is in.

I can confirm it's pretty straight forward using this method.

Bit of giggery pokery to get the turbo up above the chassis mounts and used a trolley jack under the back of the box and it went in a treat!

put the turbo water and oil lines on before it goes in, makes it easier making sure that the gasgets sit well as i've seen a lot of problems with these once fitted to the car.

I have never put an engine back in this way but taking it out that way is very straight forward. Just go slow and have someone help you out. As said above, put all oil and fuel lines on and probably the downpipe and anything that might be a pain once the engine is in place.

As above lift the engine/gearbox as one unit, also fit the downpipe first, but dont over tighten the lower bolt or it will be a nightmare to undo on the car at a later date.

Hopefully your rack is in good condition? And you've fitted a new clutch slave

Fully rebuilt and pressure tested was the main catalyst for the engine coming out in the first place!

I 'think' I had everything sorted...

Putting the gearbox in separate must cause issues doing the bolts up to a sufficient torque? I've heard people do this when the head is off the engine
