Hello, next week I'll be dynon tuning an 034 equipped, 2.6l flowed 10v with a GT30R on it, I'll be sure to post results. I estimate about 400crank HP at 20psi boost, with a very healthy TQ curve. The overall power output doesn't seem to be increased much with the stroker, but the power band has shifted down lower in the RPM band with very useable power from 3k to 6krpm.

            Hi javad

I read something interesting last night.

Corky bell's book states: "When an engine is equipped with a speed density type of efi system where no air flow meter is utilize.. the length of the intake tract can extend into the next country with no negative results insofar as throttle response is concerned."

Some thing like dalback's, aan, mtm's intake manifolds increase throttle respose because it's a shorter distance of air flow. They also reduce the intake manifolds heat to some degree.

But for your application with the huge intercooler that you have would a aan really do anything for you? Or is it just overkill? We all love to go over the top but I am just curious what benifits would you gain with this setup? Besides heat reduction?

            Constantly learning here.

            THanks
            Josh
I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who need reasons when you've got quattro?

Hey Josh, thanks for the dialogue, I'm not very concerned with increasing throttle response (since its already quite razor sharp for a heavily boosted 4v motor) or boost response (its seems to have come up in this thread, but if you look at my original post, you can see my original intent). My concern is increasing flow through the induction system, as I have a suspicion that the 3B IM I'm currently running could be limiting flow into the motor.

From a glance, the AAN appears to have a much larger plenum volume and free-er flowing design compared with the 3B. I'm really interested to hear if anyone has "scientifically" upgraded from the 3B to the AAN and measured the result in power increase, or for that matter, what the highest output 20vt motor is out there running this 3B IM. Most of the really high output motors I've seen run either the AAN or custom IM's.

What I'm considering doing is pulling off the 3B, removing all the bolt access supports and porting/flowing the plenum w/o any other changes, and going back to the dyno to see if/what improvement there is. FWIW, the inside of a 3B IM is horrendously crammed with these supports that would seem to wreck havoc on flow - but its tough to say how limiting they really are.

              Thanks,

The AAN inlet is crammed full of bolt acess runners as well - I cut them out of my AAN manifoldc

Understood, but it appears that the overall volume of the AAN is considerably bigger.

Have you been able to measure the improvement in power over the modification you make? Very interested in any discrete information.

Im not sure, but i think i must have one of the most powerfull cars still using the stock 3B manifold. Im planning on doing a RR day soon, before i change the manifold. I could re do this RR session, but it maybe in a few months time

Why not just fill up both intake manifolds with water and see what's the difference?

Also what about extrude and honed? Do you consider it too expensive?

                      Cheers

He's referring to "extrude honing" a proprietary process by a firm here in the U.S. that forces an abrasive media though ports to smooth them and change their shape. It's very expensive, like $500+ for a manifold I think. I don't think the gains would be as great as eliminating the service tubes and relocating the throttle body to the front.

No problem! It didn't work for me when I posted it either, it's very slow but I got it to work now. If you're curious, check it out. It's pretty cool, just too expensive. I would love to do it to my Wagner intake, as it looks very rough inside. But I understand that doesn't matter all that much, at least not $500 worth for the perhaps insignificant gains.
