Stock, stroker or ghetto capacity increase? ( supra 7m gte pistons bmw rods )
Option 1 was always my intention (in 2 stages, with the head as stage 2), as I was planning on a 3071 (for which I've upgraded the rest of the car) but I think there are some cheaper and very reliable options out there at the mo (2 of which are mentioned above) and the bolt-on nature of a KKK product is very tempting, especially as Dimitri and Richard seem to be getting their teeth into them in a pretty decent way.
IMO one of Richards creations which has been invented for our cars is the path of least resistance.

Again, if he does not have a RS2 turbo on the shelf, K26/K27 will do 400 all day long with no stress and be cheaper than RS2 turbo plus meth injection.
Of course the meth injection would be awesome for hot summer days, as your car will go very well regardless if it is hot outside.
Maybe I am too price conscious, but I really believe into getting the most bang for your buck.
If that is not an issue, then disregard my advice entirely.
Bang for buck is always important.

I think you should drive one, come here for a visit
Assuming you are talking about B5 S4/RS4, Dest was kind enough to bring me for a drive in his car. What a machine to pull up that hill.
Option 1 is pretty much what my engine build will be, ported head, rods/pistons all balanced and some ARP hardware. My philosophy was to build it once, i may only be putting a small RS2 turbo on mine but at least this way a 4-500 motor is just a turbo swap away as the internals will take whatever i may throw at it in the future.
Having said that, after buying a donor engine and chucking most of it in the bin for new bits it wouldnt really have cost any more to build a stroker. Especially if your planning on buying pistons/rods anyway. Food for thought...

Except if as I said, you bore it to 83, and use 7M-GTE pistons and BMW rods, which will give you closer to 8.1:1 CR, and you can find them at the scrap yard for almost free.
The crank and pistons need machining, but it is a very cheap option

Have you any other details on this prj, I've never heard of this approach.

1. Get a worn block for almost nothing.
2. Bore it to 83mm
3. Get 7M-GTE pistons for almost nothing, machine 1.2mm-1.5mm off the top.
4. Get M50B20TU rods for almost nothing.
5. Get a MC crank, machine to fit rods (AAN crank can be also used, but have to be machined more)
Put it all together...
The BMW rods fit the Supra pistons.
This is not a Stroker, but still has increased displacement, and is very cheap to make because of no custom parts. K26/K27 spools like stock turbo on this. Full boost (2 bar) at 3300ish in 3rd.
The BMW rods are of course not as good as the H-rods, but take a 3076 easily.
The Supra pistons will allow you to have lower CR, depending on how much is machined off. They are 8.5:1 stock.
P.S.
Your engine will be a Frankenstein after this, but hey, who cares
Probably not.
Done in Estonia a few times though, and I mapped one of these on a K26/K27.
Car ran 250 km/h on 1 mile, which puts it in the same territory as a chipped RS4 (254) and a chipped R8 V8 Coupe (253) with toggleable open exhaust.
Stock head, stock cams, 3" DP, big FMIC, 440cc's, RS4 MAF.
I like the sound of that as well, someone either had a lot of balls or enginerring knolage to put the first one together. If you have some skill as well as 'friends' in the trade the block could be built up for under £500.

do you know someone who will share the car with me for 20 minutes then?
You can drive mine.

Yes of course. If they are good why not?
The entire point of this build is to be cheap. But this does not mean it is bad.
It easily holds 700nm and gives you better spool for very little money. Perfect engine to take a 3076 and make it feel like a 3071.
Most people don't really need H-rods and crazy torque with GT35R, HX40 Super and bigger turbos.
