    Cheap China Turbos!

    Hi guys,

what do You think about something like this from China "manufacturers"?

Price is ridicilous and it would be used for daily driving in AAN, nothing more than that.

Does anybody have any personal experience with China turbos, but not like "I heard, I know..."?

    Thanks!

This is what I read about them in different Forum:

    1. many people say that these turbo are not well balanced - some of them balance them and use them without issues -
    2. Compressor Impellers tend to break at higher pressures.

I know that the turbine impellers is not made from Inconel but some other heat resistant steel. I asked about it a manufacturer some time ago.

Why don't you buy a genuine used turbo for almost that money?

usually they last 500km very poor quallity, but I know some one with Chinese turbo which has 30k+ and no issues so far.

it's a gamble you don't know where it will let you down. But for such price you can have 3 spare in the trunk

better option is used turbo (KKK for example) and recycle it.

There are many genuine turbos from known manufacturers at that size, smaller or bigger.

Look at Holset HX35, HX40, IHI from Impreza STI, Garrett turbo from Saabs, 3K from Volvo or Ford. The later will not support 500hp but the china turbo neither.

Just read the experiences on AudiSRS.com of numerous S4/RS4 owners who have had them fail in a short space of time!

I'm not going to risk a 5k engine build with a cheap turbo that might put it's blades through my engine!! If they were proven (like cheaper rods for example) then fair enough but a turbo is a precision piece of engineering! It's almost too cheap to even trust - if you can manufacture a turbo at that cost, it's not being done with the expertise or tooling that it needs to be. A bit like IT outsourcing... it's damn cheap for a reason, and the general 'you need 5 to replace 1' rule probably applies too

Lets all buy a cheap $180 bomb that spins at 150k revs per minute and strap it to the engine.

You obviously have concerns otherwise this thread wouldn't exist, buy it and prove us wrong

I have a friend with same turbo to honda. I read dimensions of compressor wheel. Garrett GT3076R use exducer of 76mm. This turbo not use 76mm but yes 71mm.

"close enough" for the chinaman - its probably supposed to be 76m on the drawings
