Specialists for diagnostic work and tuning in the north west

Hi guys, my brother and I have just rescued an s2 from a farm in west wales, aberdaron to be precise.

Weve had the cambelt done etc and a service now we just have to deal with the running issues, hesitations and power dropping off at revs and so on!

Having owned a few turbo cars over the years I now its best to give these stubborn ******s to people who know their way around the marque.

I hoping you guys could hopefully reccomend someone as local as possible to take her too.

    Thanks

How handy are you with the spanners? you can do a lot of checks yourself before taking it to a garage. Start by pulling the fault codes and checking for boost leaks, use the search function, there is loads on useful information on here.

You've come to the right place.

To own an S2 you're going to need to do some DIY, Otherwise prepare for some hefty bills.
Professionals that know these cars are very few and far between in my experience.

As Andy says, start by checking for fault codes and boost leaks.

For fault codes you can either use VCDS, or start with an LED and read the info on s2central:

        Introduction
        Where to connect
        How to connect
        What the codes mean...

As for boost leak testing AndyP is your man. You just need some bungs and an air compressor.

There aren't many locals down this end with much knowledge about these cars. If you ever need a hand with anything I'm only down the road on anglesey.

The boost does drop off up the top, so power delivery is more diesel than M3

Boost leaks are the most common closely followed by sender issues and missfires...

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, I will get a comprihensive snag list posted up sonn lol

This is definately some sort of intermitent timing issue are sensor going down, boost leak etc. Not sure where to start really, im quite handy with the spanners ive owned fiat coupes, renault 5s and rs turbos back in the day however I always left running issues to rolling roads to diagnose as there used to be a really good bosch guy just outside wrexham, but I think he has gone now

Do any of you guys no of a decent dyno to get her strapped down to just for peace of mind?

If I were you, I would forget professional help, as it usually ends in pain of some sort. You really need to learn the basics if you're going to own and run this car.

Just start with reading the fault codes, and let us know how you get on.

Only real close 4x4 dyno to you would be dyno demon in Neston. I've had mine there and they're not to bad chap that runs the place says he's had a fair few s2's there in the past

I fully agree with these sentiments. Speaking from experience.

Welcome btw, you're in the right place, you just need to spend time reading past and current threads to become more familiar with these cars. All the info is here as a search or if you ask. Be advised these cars are expensive even when you do it yourself. (Also addictive).

Do you have a photo of the car. Avant or Coupe, and what year ?

p.s. change your country of origin in your personal details, as you appear to be in the US.

What about Greg's dad's garage near Shrewsbury? http://www.billsmith.co.uk/

But yes, pull the codes and post em up, chances are it will be a boost leak. Describe symptoms, we've been there

BTW is it a 3B or ABY? (distributor or coil packs?)
