    ABY Camshaft bearing cap studs

    Advice pls gents

I managed to shear one of the camshaft bearing cap retaining studs last night .

I've had the head off to replace all the inlet valves (all bent after crankshaft pulley key failure), was in the middle of tightening down the bearing cap nuts to 15nm as per manual, just starting to think this doesn’t feel good when one went.

Has anyone had this problem before?, on inspection all 12 inlet studs look to be showing 2-3 threads extra vs exhaust side studs (which are untouched) and still haven’t 'locked' down, so studs must be stretching !

Also any ideas on where to get replacements?...or is it a Audi dealer job + how difficult are they to get out ?

    Cheers

easy to get out, just put 2 nuts on it and undo or use a stud extractor(external).

I have a load of used ones if you can't get new ones from audi

That sounds wrong to me. Are you sure your torque wrench is calibrated correctly?
