Well, you couldn't upgrade a GT3076 to a GTX3071 (without the comp housing) as the GTX3071comp wheel is smaller. GT3076- ind57mm exd71.4mm / GTX3071 -ind54.1mm exd71.4mm
You could of course upgrade a GT3076 to a GTX3076 as the GTX3076 is ind58mm exd 76.2mm, a quick skim of the comp housing and bobs your uncle.
Problem is that in my setup, maybe a GTX3076 wont give too much as an advantage, esp. with the small hotside,as i wouldnt be able to hold too high boost up in the revrange. The 3071 on the other hand, might come in handy, esp. if keeping the same boost characteristics is able to push more air than my current setup.
I think the HTA one which is 54.8/76.6mm is sort of in between the 3071-3076 and able to produce the in between power as well(according to FP). At a 600$ cost, its not that bad, trouble is the costs rise due to shipping and possible customs.
a friend of mine sent me a post from his 1.8T engined HTA 0.82AR 3076R turbo. I have calculated with the VDR 400-450whp, which is way more than what mine does on my current setup.
Have always wondered how the 4cyl engines can make so much power!! His 3d gear shows full boost by 4000rpm.
Turbo dynamics WERE able to get these bits. My contact worked there. Was also able to get the "cant be done" bearings for a rebuild of a gtr Garrett. I wonder if the billet wheels they sell now are Garrett copies and Garrett pulled their plug...
