New S2 owner -Noob questions

So after 10 yrs of waiting I finally have another S2

After 2 mins of driving I realised why its my favorite car ! Ive had this for a few hours now and can only say I love it dearly

So after such a long time of not owning one I have a few questions

its L reg avant

Firstly the auxilary water pump has been bypassed and since removed obviously due to failure ! Id like to get this replace and if anyone has a euro car parts part no or the bosch number id be gratefull ( i have seen some threads on this but there were a few numbers listed ) id also be gratefull if someone has a picture of it in the engine bay just so i can see which pipe goes where.

Secondly on changing from first gear to second I can hear a dump valve/waste gate noise but cant remeber if my old one did this??

thirdly after a good run home i popped the bonnet and could hear the faintest hissing noise and it sounded if it was coming from the expansion bottle cap(it was tight) has my cap given up the ghost or is there something else lurking? (it ran lovely and stayed around 90C and i heard the fan cut in)

Its also due a service (well if not im gonna do it anyway) Ive found the part no for the plugs and was wondering the best oil to use, and wether I should change the gbox and diff oils too?

Well im sure I have more nooby type questions but thats all i can think of so far

Since you are a self-confessed Noob *AND* you have an ABY, most of the questions you are asking can be answered by this AAN Engine Bay Device map (go to the link, the click on the label of the in item you seek info about, e.g. after-run pump, By-pass valve, spark plugs (under ignition coils label), etc.. I see an after run pump for sale on here I think check out the for sale section, might have been on flea bay! I just replaced mine cost £100

Also found my PAS pump has play in it and is causing a slight noise under load - so il be after one of those too!

I had the same experience with the pump.....it literally wasn't there and had been by-passed! See this thread: -

The part number is there and is a Bosch part. I understand it is also used on domestic appliances! Mine cost £90 new.

sorry i meant what grade ( i get a good euro car parts discount and my 5/30 fully sinth from Vag costs me a £1 a litre so i might be able to use that)

Against retail ? yes usually !! some retail prices are ridiculous but again it really depends on what your ordering
