i would like an answer to this as it is very old now and i have had a failure before
i dont want to modify the downpipe either,so stock location and fitment
i know more than the 50% os S2 with wastegates failures....i think it is normal as we have lots of kms done....and the things goes worse whem we have our cars mapped

The 034 is a good option any vband wastegate can be made to fit with similar mods. I'd ditch the stock audi wastegate it really is old tech compared to modern wastegates
The guides can wear on them which can be replaced. The valves and valves seats reprofiled and cleaned for improved flow and porting done on the exit port. Mines got 209,000miles on it functioning fine without guide replacement. Soon it will be going to a new home along with turbo and manifold.
The biggest issue with the stock unit is the 34mm manifold hole hoes down to a smaller hole inside the flexi which is directional and crucial its fitted the right way round.

cheers for the PM....and your planning an even bigger turbo!!!...
The hole is 1.5 inches and I think from my experience it's poppycock that this is the restriction unless you are approaching 600 bhp even then bolt on a 40 or 44mm tial or turbosmart wastegate and you'd had no issues.
The restriction on a stock wastegate is the outlet flexi pipe. Remove that and replace it with a proper flexi and it will work a lot better.
Remember the wastegate is only to bypass gas for boost control, you make the outlet for the wastegate big you have problems with finite boost control hence the size is fine with a decent wastegate

1. So both original and Wagner's manifold wastegate outlet are 38 mm (1,5")?
2. What is original wastegate inlet and outlet diameter?
3. Is there a restriction inside of the wastegate (I mean maybe inlet and outlet are 38 mm but there's a bottleneck inside).
4. Original flexy goes down to what diameter inside?
5. Some say that original wastegate valve is 34 mm, so wastegate inlet and outlet is probably the same?
6. Also some say that original wastegate is 30 mm?
Damn, I have couple of them in my country place, so have to measure them.
