Engine mount bolt sheared in block.

As it states above the drivers side engine mount has snapped at least one bolt. Its the bolt that goes through the engine mount into the block . My question is Has anyone come across this before?. It looks like it may be possible to brase the engine at the top and drop front of the sub frame down to access the block to remove the offending bolt. Next question, To do this I will need to remove the oil filter housing and the oil feed hose. So I will need gasket's for these parts. If there is anything ellse I will need could you let me know so I have everything to hand.

Any advice at all will be a great help.

    Thanks in advance

    Gary

Thanks for that diagram that will help a lot .
Yes that is the one but I have not tried to remove it. It has sheared off it's self.
I noticed a vibration on start up. I first thought a exhaust rubber had come off. But on closer inspection I found the sheared off part of the bolt hanging out of the mount.

      Thanks Gary

I must learn to "search" before jumping in with a post. Thanks for the replys.
Could anyone suggest a stronger bolt for the job and where would be best to find said bolts. Also where would I find the correct tourqe settings for the bolts.

          Thanks Gary

I had exactly this to sort on a customers car last week.

I just got stuck in and removed the engine. It was a good time to replace the clutch while it was out.

Once the engine was on the deck, I used a left hand drill bit to drill them out. To be fair it was only a couple of rotations of the drill bit, when they snag, they wind out fairly easy.

The added pain in the butt on this was that it had cracked off one of the bolt mountings from the block.

So I made a 1/4" thick steel plate that could be mounted to the block using the other mounting hole that is close to the area.

I then drilled and tapped the hole in the plate in the location of the broken casting and bolted it all together.

The whole procedure was out and back in running within the day....

I just done this I had two snapped off and as I was replacing head gasket it was easier to access.but I used a right angled converter with a cordless drill and easy outs... Both came out fine without any issues
