RS2 Water Pump and Cambelt

Has anybody got to the bottom of the differences between the ABY and ADU waterpumps and cambelts?

As always I'm having far more work than actually needs doing on my Avant next week and so the cambelt and waterpump will be changed again (last done just over 20,000miles ago) I was wondering if the RS2 equivalents had any advantages (other than making pockets lighter)

I think Mark H was going to try out the ADY water pump.

Ben the RS2 water pump has three less teeth on it than the ABY pump, making it pump a bit faster.
I used the pump with the RS2 belt with no problems.

Dont know Ben, I never got around to comparing the two, maybe a bit shorter??

Looks like I'll be the guinea pig who buys both to compare them then. We really ought to find out. in the name of science and all that.

Marco I have a 7A cam belt which is ok for the 3B but not the ABY.

Don't know the difference I'm afraid....

3B(RR) and ABY are different - BTDT - ABY is longer IIRC.

Never had one in my hand so cannot be sure - I expect it might be a tooth or 2 shorter because the water pump pulley is smaller - the ADU will have the same tensioner as ABY so it might not have enough travel to tension an ABY belt on a RS2 water pump ??

Yep, if there is a difference that is probably it.

Hmmm... I think I have a 7a belt on my aby motor.

I will have to look into these speculations. Runs fine nevertheless right now. However I do have a 7a crank pulley on there too. I bought another 7a bottom end that I will be picking up this week so I will check that out too.
