will it fit the aby, and i now have a bigger problem, since i done the leak test me car somked like **** then got hot and the fan didn't kick in, i only did 22psi test, WOTS WRONG NOW

Ha Ha i just had the stat out and boiled it and guess wot, stayed shut, strange how one thing leads to another and another with these older cars, so back to the smoke, well it was more white and thin than the oily blue !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A few weeks ago you said your 710 was 'broke with a capital F' - if you havn't got around to changing it yet, is it possible that the pressure test has lifted it off it's seat and it's now stuck open? If so would that drastically affect mixture to the point that it will smoke??
        Just a thought?

Fitted a new one mate from TPS, seems more like water and antifreeze smoke than oil,
did a compresion test, all ok there, no gas in the coolant, will see wot happens when i fit the new stat bud, could it be the water cooled turb leaking into the exhaust

Fingers crossed that it aint the turbo Bud. Just out of curiosity- how long did it take to get at, and remove the 'stat?? I need to change mine, but a bit concerned about snapping the bolts, and every time I think about having a go- Bomber Command comes up with another project for me

That's why when you boost test you block the PCV.
So you don't blow oil past the seals and get loads of smoke.

And the in pipe is different, I had no problem going 3b-aby, just cut the hose shorter, I think you would need a 3b boost hose as well.

Yes that's correct. IIRC the bolts are slightly different too, but I went 3B to ABY first then ABY to RS2 then RS2 to Ebay Biggie then Ebay Biggie to Wagner reversed... so not surprising I can't remember!

                              Hello Bullysteeth,

I'm in the process of changing valve cover gasket and while removing throttle body found a scratch in the rubber hose.
Prj already adviced to do a pressure test but wasn't sure how to do it.

Now with your pictures is much clear how it's done.
Is an oil filter can what you've fitted into the maf hose?
