VEMS Idle diode question..help

Do you really need the idle diode when using vems ?

If i remember well VEMS use internal diode flyback to control solenoids ( high power current output ). So, if you put other diodo in parallel with solenoid you reforce flyback current when the power Mosfet is turn OFF.

just been on efi website reference their set-up for the s2, there's a diode adaptor lead included. When i used vems on the audi abz engine no diode used, maybe because its a different idle control valve! Reason i ask is i'm using vems on my s2 and haven't the diode.

The diode is optional but idle control is greatly increased with it

Simple 1N4007 can do it

Or SMD diode S1G.
