where does this membrane come from

It's ripped out obviously, since it had a tear in it (2nd picture on the bottom -> curled and dark/burned)

Well it isn't the WG membrane. Other candidates include the BPV, the fuel pressure regulator and the pressure regulating valve (PCV system).

Well you pretty much mentioned them all

but it's from the PCV valve, correct. Ordered it to replace it precautionary, and cut the back lid of to see the inside... to my surprise
the membrane was ripped over 2cm.

that would mean I was pulling CV oilfumes under vacuum into the intake, correct?

Yes, probably. And by PCV valve you mean Pressure Control Valve as shown below:
