Urgently help required please g40 code

My urs4 wouldn't start a couple of days ago and so when checking fault codes g40 hall sensor came up, this was duely replaced with new one and fault code cleared however it won't go away, electrical plug looks fine and I can't find any obvious wiring faults but the fault code g40 to earth keeps on stopping engine starting. I've checked fuel and it is getting to injectors and timings spot on. Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated as it is my only moted car just now.

Measure and see if you get 5V in the sensor plug with ignition on.

In the G40 Cam Position Sensor link that I provided to you, there is this diagram (Below). You want to check for the voltage in the harness connector (peel back the boot to confirm wire positions and colours):

You say the timing is spot on, did you check the flywheel "0" mark in the bellhousing window and the mark on the camshaft are lining up correctly? You can't rely on the bottom pulley mark.

Engine has been running perfect untill now for about three years. Cable tied pulley etc when removed belt so is exactly the same as before so timing should be spot on. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Worth a look just in case the crank pulley keyway has gone..
Also check the condition of the ground connections under the inlet manifold.

Checked pins 1 and 3 and there is 5v when ignition is on, Crank pulley is fine. Does anyone know if it is possible for cam sensor to touch cam and so create short?

A bent cam shaft position sensor shutter wheel could contact the G40 cam position sensor.

Here is what the cam sensor looks like with out the cam pulley and cam position shutter wheel covering it.

I have removed cam pulley again to inspect and I can't find any faults it looks like new. Is it worth buying a new one anyway. This is driving me mad I have multimetered plug and it is getting 5v etc. I have changed to new cam sensor. I have tryed old one again and checked wiring plug which is like new on loom side. Is there anything else I can try apart from pulley? Everytime I use diagnotic to clear code as soon as you try to start it the fault comes back. Any help much appreciated
