    Too high boost pressure?

    Hi guys,

I just fitted a boost gauge to my car, and I got some odd readings.

The car is an original 3b, 3"DP+ Exhaust, Rs2 airbox, Homefries. No resirc valve.

The gauge is a AEM -1 to +2.4 Bar.
On ignition, the gauge recalibrates to account for atmospheric pressure.
From what I've read I should be seeing 1,4 Bar on the gauge, instead I get 2 Bar

Any ideas to what could be causing this?
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.

2 bar on a K24 turbo? even chipped you shouldn't be seeing these boost levels. Are you sure you haven't got a different turbo?

no spring gives 2 bar by itself on the stock audi wastegate that i've seen. the 034 2.2 bar is 1.1 boost pressure plus a K24 doing 2 bar??

Torn waste gate diaphragm, hose to waste gate split or come off and on the odd occasion the N75 fails and stops boost pressure going to waste gate, they normally fail open and you get spring boost, but not always.
The thing that is puzzling is why your ECU is not cutting fuel to prevent engine death?

More information is needed, did this start just after you chipped it etc, etc.

You will also kill the turbo, comp wheel will explode as running very high boost and no recirc, when you shut the throttle the stress on the blades will be work hardening them, soon they will let go!
your intercooler and engine will be full of aluminium bits !

Disconnect the N75 (electrical connector) and tell us what your gauge reads

Jo, if I disconnect the n75 should I see 5 psi? Also if it keeps on at 2 bar what would that eliminate?
