I know this is only for 4 but Awesome do them at £78 for 4 which is £19.50 each. No mention of brand but I would imagine they wont be rubbish ones.

shipping for 50 coil packs is $225.00...I'm juat thinking about the import duty and VAT on that lot....

    so coils $16 each x 5 = $80
    shipping for 50 coils $225 / 10 = $22.50
$102.50 @ $-£1.549 = £66.13 for 5 coils....then there will be import duty / tax....not sure how much but I doubt it would be the same again....so not to shaby....

I've asked about shipping 5 to me and 5 to a member in the states to see which route is cheaper....as suggested my Dave F.....

Genuine dealer coils 22.69ea (shockingly cheap?)

Anyone do better for genuine? I will not supply the cheapest variations as you will want to throw them at me

I think a Stickey of coilpack suppliers may be of use, and wiring harness suppliers?

im trying a few sources for coilpack looms right now aswell

Great prices compared to what I've seen in the UK. At that price I think there will be plenty of interest. I'd go for the dealer coils for the small increase in price.

I have no idea, not a part of the mapping I have ever looked into. I will now though. I run lpg, so the stronger the spark the better. Thanks for the help and data points. Many people would say these sort of things are secret and won't tell you.

    Cheers

How much dwell do you run?
You should run about 2.5ms and 2.0 to 2.2 up top.

You might even get away with 1.5 up top and 2ms in midrange.
    This is at 14V.

    Dwell correction is needed, yes...
For both 1.8T and 2.5TFSI. I think the red ones are the same as 2.5TFSI, only color is different.

    Otherwise they last about 20 000-50 000km.
For me it was 1.5 years and about 30 000 without correction.

You should be able to use these coils without any changes to your existinmg setup.

I'm sure Dmitri will let us know whether dwell settings are different between the 1.8T coils and the V8 red tops or 2.5TFSI's
