I just know what we manufactured 149mm connecting rods for this engines, block the same as AAN just stroke 79,5mm. Good version for big rpm.

I think your memory on the stroke length is wrong. With 81 mm dia pistons, 79.5 mm stroke = 2.048L = still in the > 2.0L tax bracket.

77.6 mm stroke as per the magazine article = 1999.36 cc = < 2.0L
77.3 mm ===> 1991.6 cc

Not sure why 1993 cc is quoted.

I never said the rod length was wrong, just your memory on the stroke length.

Seems they might have used pistons with the wrist pin moved at least 3.8 mm higher to maintain the same (or less) piston to head clearance.

86.4+144+A=77.6+149+(A-x)

x = 3.8 mm
