Also with a chipped RS2 from 2003 till 2008 only issue was the hall sensor once. It needed to cool down in order to start. Never left me.
With the stroker and all the stuff (+vems) also took long journeys like 900 kms a day through crappy roads and mountains and 1800km non stop (max. 5 min break every 3-4 hours) from Munich/germany to my hometown in Greece.
I believe the engines are pretty reliable...but of course like with any car/machine they can break down. I even see a Toyota 1.6 liter engine with 7000km on the clock shoot a rod through the block.
