Has any one had trouble with pcv pressure regulating valve

Has any one ever experienced problems with the pressure regulating valve on a 3b pcv pipeing.
How do you check if its working or not,and what if any are the symptoms of failure

You're talking about the black valve down by the dipstick tube right? If it blocks up the engine will smoke as the crankcase can't vent. If you have a hole in the piping you will get unmetered air drawn in which will cause lean mixture.

There is another valve though, down below the ISV between the IM and the Carbon Can valve, this is a tiny one way valve which can go wrong and allow boost pressure to escape. This valve is in the place where 2 hoses of different sizes join, its hidden from view untill you undo the hose clips and pull it out.

When you did the boost leak test with my test kit, did you block off the PCV system or leave it connected?

John the last test I did was with the pcv pipeing connected, and could not hear any leaks. My son noticed a slight phsss sound in that arier whenever the car is turned of,so i am conducting a witch hunt on the pcv again.I did check all the pcv plumbing when the engine was out and it was all in good nick,no splits or soft spots, but I did not check this little valve you mentioned.I will try and check it today.
