Dont think that the fans will have much affect on air temps. Unless you mean to reduce heat soak say when in slow moving traffic. as the cold air blowing on it will cool it when on the move.

Also why use a 3b/ABY intercooler? Would be better to fit RS2 one if you want some power upgrades in the future.

I got the aby intercooler and crossmember so cheap!

        Realitively new too.

The Aby intercooler is a bit larger than the 3b intercooler, not as quite as larger as the Rs2.

The main reason I got the intercooler was the fact I got the crossmember too.

As much as I am a DIY type person, I can't weld yet and I wanted this project of mine to be done in my garage as much as possible.

Basically sticking with 0EM products have saved me alot of stress.

For example I just ordered the lower Rs2 intercooler hose, and upper hose from martyn.

It cost a preity penny. But the stress taken off my back will allow me to focus on other issuses.

Like the endless wiring projects that I have had going on. Engine harness, dash harness, sound system, alarm system, extra light harness for Rs2 lights. All that damn schematic reading.

The fan idea, is for my trips to the drag strip. There is quite a bit of waiting inbetween runs. I want to make sure I keep a low air temp.

Wednesday and friday nights are street tire night.

Something I hopefully enjoy a good amount next spring/summer.

There are quite a few old friends I like to roast too!:nana:

Soon enough I will have an Rs2/custom intercooler down there for now I just like to get the sucker on the road

Fair play mate, in that case the fans may be a good idea.

Hi Josh, interested to hear you intend to drag race your car, but arent you worried about the standard tranny? I constantly hear conflicting opinions about this a): its SO weak! dont used full power in 1st EVER! b): its SO strong! it can take 400hp!
Must say I tend not to do traffic light GP starts too often!
            good luck with your ideas!

Well that's where the tranny cooler comes into play. I am hoping it will help a good amount.

              The other thought:

I honestly don't care very much if I do let the tranny go. I am not about to beat on the car so much that the tranny is going to go to pieces but I certainly intend to have fun with it and if something were to happen. I sappose I could get a 6speed from a 2000+ s4. There are alot more 6 speed models now a days from audi here in the states.

I do realize I will have to change drive shafts etc.. But it certainly could be another fun garage project come next winter? (Knock on wood, I would like to see the stock tranny last).

              Some turbo EfI 10v # :

              Max Wheel Power: 291.3 @ 5900RPM

Max Wheel Torque 306.5@ 4550 RPM

              7a N.A. 20v clutch/flywheel setup btw.

              And it's daily driven.
No issuses with the 5 speed as I have so far heard.

I sappose it depends alot on the driver too.

We will see.. I am going to cross my fingers, hope for the best, and prepare for the worst.

Basically by the middle of next summer, I am hoping to have everything figured out so I can run in the 12s consistently.

The challenge is set.. it's just a matter of getting it on the road and doing the research.

It gives me something to think about when I am at work too..
              I am constantly getting "ideas".

I will certainly keep everyone posted as I move along with the project. Hopefully I will have a web site about all the "mods" too.

              Cheers
              Josh

              P.S. what's that quote?

The difference between a dream and a reality is a set plan?

Something like that I think it goes.

Hi josh, so im really interested here, are you saying that the newer 6 speed trannys, say from, '95 on will fit the I5 engine & S2 driveshafts without too much alteration?

This was a message I happen to save from audiworld.com

The message that was just posted was:

                  Subject: six speed change differences

The difference in a S2 six speed and a coupe 5 speed.

cuatrokoop is correct, the six speed is longer, therefore you also need the
                  torsen and the drive shaft.

The inner CV joints are larger. Therefore you need S2 axles and inner CVs.
The outer CVs are ok. The ones on the coupe are the same as an S2.

You need to change the linkage.

You need to change the plate on the bottom of the shift ball. The S2 has a
different reverse lockout than the 5 speed tranny. You can modify the stock
plate, but this never worked well. Change the plate.

The subframe on a coupe is different also. You need to shim up the drivers
side tranny mount to get it right. I used a longer bolt and a piece of
                  solid aluminum.

I used a late S2 box, but the new S4 box should fit and is easier to find.
                  Both are 01E transmissions.

                  Cheers
                  Josh

p.S. if you wanted to talk to this person directly I could put you in contact with him.

Yeh thanx for that mate but I knew the Ur quattro box could be made to fit the S2 ( by the way mine is a '93 ABY with a 6 speed as standard) What I was really interested in was if the newer 6 speed tranny fit like from the bi turbo V6 S4?
                    Cheers,
                    Simon
