    150+ hiding hp. 3b engine

Got some issues with my 550 setup.

    - Missing 150+ hp.
    - Full boost(2 bar)at 5000rpm, should have it at 3500-4000.
    - Red hot exhaust manifold and turbine housing on cruising(2500rpm)

Maybe someone can see some restrictors out of the specs.?

    Head:
    stock aan
    7a cams with adjustable camgear

    Block:
    H-rod
    Rs2 bearings
Oil catch with drain to oil pan
    Big oil cooler.

    Ignition:
    Ls2 multicoils
    Magnecor wires
    f5dpor plugs

    Fuel:
    044 pump
    Bosch ev14 1000cc injectors
    3.5 bar fuel pressure
    98 octane fuel

    Exhaust/turbo:
    Precision billet custom 5562e a/r 0.58
    Furans t4 manifold
3" exhaust from turbo to rear muffler

    Intake:
600x300 intercooler with in/out on the same side.
2.5" pipe from turbo to the stock 3b pipe that runs along the valve cover.
    Tial q bov.
Turbo xs high perfomance boost controller

    Engine management:
    Vems
    4bar map sensor
    Egt sensor
    Wb02

Mapped last week at es tuning in norway on a mustang dyno.
The results says 320 whp and 393nm

    Compression test at warm engine:

    dry:
    1- 9,9 bar
    2- 9,2
    3- 9.6
    4. 9.2
    5- 10.6

    with oil:
    1- 10.6
    2- 10
    3- 10.8
    4- 9.9
    5- 11.6

Max egt on 1.8 bar boost - 840°C
    Egt at 2000 rpm 5 gear - 600°C uphill 700°C++

Engine intake is tested for leaks and holds 2 bar easy..

0.58 A/R? If that is on exhaust turbine, it's WAY too small.

Also, 5562 sounds like a CompTurbo (CT) and not Precision.
You have a 55mm inducer and a 0.58 A/R hotside if I am not mistaken.
840C EGT if it is post turbo is a good time to STOP, because else you will start to melt things.
Personally I think everything is more or less on target for the size of turbo, except the spoolup. The bad spoolup can be caused by incorrect cam timing, bad wastegate or bad turbo when there are no boost leaks.

Get a proper turbo. For example GT35R with 0.82 A/R or HX40 Super with 16cm hotside, and you can make 600hp.
Full boost on both is similar - about 4700 rpm for 2.5 bar, but 35R will have better transient response.

compression is low. Mine was similar and had excactly the same issues. If you havent changed pistons, the rings are probably gone, or if you did, the measurements are not correct.

        that is my speculation.

Compression is also a bit low, yes.
But it's not low enough to cause no boost until 5000 rpm... something else is at fault as well.

as es-tuning is a vems distributor, i would assume they know how to tune and dial in the correct timing.

5562 is a precision turbo, they have similar ways of describing their turbos as CT. And is A/R compressor or turbine?

finally, 5000rpm at which gear? 2nd? even there it wouldnt be right, but i assume again its 4th or 5th as its on the dyno.

clear up these assumptions and more people can help you.

            good luck

Either way, unless I am missing something that turbo sounds like a maximum 450hp turbo with that hotside.
There is also no "correct timing" for 7A cams - you can do lots of things depending on what is required from the engine.

The cam timing should be checked... when timed stock there is no overlap, so they don't significantly hurt spoolup.
However, if you dial in the 7A cams so that there is overlap and a lot of it, it'll be quite bad.

Not to mention that with stock compression ratio and on pump fuel, it is quite hard to reach 500hp, never mind higher outputs.

                Thanks for the replys.!

Turbo is a brand new precision bought from jonus racing. should work wery well on this engine he says.!?
T4 turbine with a/r .58 and .60 on the compressor.

I can borrow a better compression tester and do a new test, the one i posted was done with a cheap one..

Cam timing is checked and rechecked. we tried to adjust them in dyno for faster spoolup but we ended up with
                the stock timing.
maybe i should try the 3b cams instead of 7a.?

T4 flange on a turbo this small and you wonder why you have lag? sell the manifold and turbo and get a T3 flanged turbo and manifold for your setp. The turbo is 600 bhp rated not 450 if billet.

T4 flange = much lower gas speed. T4 flange is for cars looking for 650 and above that are used for drag or high speed track.

Not much use on a turbo of your size

You want a .63 ar with T3 with that turbo your realistically be around the 500+ mark on an S2

                        T4 flange, that explains.

That turbo will never make 500hp on a stock CR engine though without race gas or meth injection.
All those so called turbo outputs are overestimated with regards to efficiency on the 2.2T anyway.

This is much smaller than a GT3582R, a bit bigger than a 30R and 30R usually makes about 470hp on stock head/engine/compression ratio with a 0.82A/R housing, and even then it is purely knock limited throughout the entire range.

Why is his manifold red hot ? Is it the small turbine? Some one from precision told my a t4 .58 flows more then a t3 .68

Good to know after spending 4500$ on turbo and tuning.
But finaly i know whats wrong

Then the best option is to weld a T3 flange on the manifold and buy a
                            .63 t3 turbine housing.?

suppose a t4 .82 hosing will not do any better than the t4 .58?

That could theoretically be true. The A over r is a ratio, since area A of the T4 is a lot bigger compared to the T3, gives a differect volute design.
Bad side is that it will decrease total efficiency, which you do not want.

Manifold gets hot because the flow is choking due to the turbine size.
Think of it as adding the same amount of heat but reducing the flow, increasing the (fresh) air flow will dilute the total massflow's temperature.
In theory it would help to increase ignition timing, but you are knock limited on Otto engines.
Backpressure has some good sides, it is potential energy on "tip in"to aid transient response.
