BUT I DON'T WANT A NEW CAR!
1995 S2 Avant, Volcano Black
1982 VW Golf Mk1, primer yellow, will be finished one day, maybe.
2003 VW T4 long nose X pack, (has become project)
Haha cheers and well done! I tried and only had them both working for 4 months together? Haha. Hopefully by Xmas that may be the case again... I hope! I aspire to your levels haha
Whilst I have been waiting on parts and third parties I have cleaned up and painted quite a few parts. I made my own sand blasting setup for £15 and it has worked supprisingly well.
I went over the block lightly with some scotchbrite to clean off any remaining gasket, I also removed and deposits from the waterways with the hoover
Water rail before using my sand blaster
Looking Cleaner
Blasted Rocker Cover
Thought I would try out some crinkle paint I have had in the shed for years was a bit worried when nothing appeared to happen for an hour or so
Wrinkle happened, and it looks ok. Not sure about the carbon effect but I had it lying around and it makes it a bit neater.
Sandblasted painted and polished intake manifold
Is there any way to obtain that finish with regular heat resistant paint(there are 500-700-800 degree resistant paints)and get it cooked?Or finish will not get so "small"?It is not the price(heat paint is about 10gbp also here) but getting it from abroad iritates me(i do not know romanian term for this paint and can not find it here)
That paint is VHT wrinkle Plus good for 350 degrees. You can either bake it or let it run through a few engine heat cycles and it will cure that way. http://www.vhtpaint.com/products/wrinkleplus/
I got mine off ebay a few months back when it was on offer
Finally getting somewhere with this, I managed to get a 7A head machined to 3B specs off Spink then had the local machine shop swap the cams over. I have the valves and seats machined as well as stem seals done as well as giving everything a good clean.
I am currently trying to swap my steering rack over which is an absolute nightmare with access to bolts, but once done I will start reassembling.

Should still be on for ADI just!!
Will add photos later
LOL...I swapped my rack while the engine and gearbox was out and was still a pita!!
Yeah steering rack is a nightmare, only got one bolt to go but it is the one above the bell housing which you cant get anything on. Maybe on of my custom shop bent/chopped/re welded special S2 spanners will get the job done
