    AAN Auto crank spacer removal

i recently bought an replacement AAN engine for my car. the engine comes from an automatic, so i need to swap the flywheel and clutch. the problem is that the crank from an Auto engine has a spacer on it. with the spacer in place i cant bolt the flywheel to the crank. does anyone has any tips on how to remove the spacer ?

Just to be clear, are you talking items 12A and 13 "washer" or item 18 "bushing"?

apparently a good hit with a chisle between the end of the crank and the bush will make it come out(didnt work for me) so I had chopped it into segments and eventually got it all out.I heard someone else say they used a large tap in the centre hole, presumably then made some kind of slide hammer to get it out

Yeah, we had to chop ours up into segments on the Rally car... PITA it was...

If it has a hole down the middle that goes right through the bushing, find a punch or a piece of rod that fits down the hole nicely, fill the hole with grease, bang the punch in and the grease will float the bush out. (wear goggles! lol) Same method as to remove starter bush in blind hole. If that doesn't work tap a thread, screw in a length of studding, big socket, washer and nut, pull it out.

I tried many ways and eventually tapped it for 18mm, screwed an M18 bolt into it to drive the bush out.

                  It's very firmly pressed in.
