    engine cutting out?

My aby coupe has started playing odd....
when boosting to near 1 bar, the engine suddenly cuts all power (doesnt stall). once this happens the engine will continue to "cut out" at 0.5 bar until the engine is re-started. once re-started it will boost to near 1 bar again then continue to do the same at 0.5 bar.
Can any one explain? is it a safety feature on the ECU?

    Thanks in advance
    Ryan

Yes it's a safety feature, fuel cut, the ECU does this when various things go wrong.

This is caused a lot by air mass being implausible, either due to a boost leak or
a lot of the time the electrical connector to the MAF sensor, try unplugging the
connector and re plugging it a few time and take it for a drive.
Mine has done this twice and both times it was the connector, it may be you have a boost leak but as I found out, after spending hours looking only to fine I did not have a leak, it is better to check the connector first as it is a simple fix.
The other reason if you have no leaks is the the MAF sensor is dead.

Could be a boost leak OR a dirty MAF or MAF connection. Check and clean the MAF first:

Search on here for 'boost leak test kit' I used to sell them but I don't have any at the moment, I've sold hundreds over the years so I'm sure someone local will be able to lend you one.

Can't see what you see in that photo. Needs more FLASH.

There is a connection between the boost system, the BPV and the PVC system so anything is possible. http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/22506.phtml
