Have you still got the B5 RS4?

How does it compare with your Coupe with the GT3071 ? Just trying to get a feel for specs of the different cars via the forum as I can't get to drive them in person.
I'm not newsh, but how do you expect it to compare?
It's a 10 years newer car with more displacement.

The answer is every single little thing is better. The only downside is that it's a bitch to work on compared to the S2.

The sound is much better in the ,5 inline

Also the coupe would be faster in a track

The coupe is much more a sport car than this family vans and also they are more exclusive.

Coupe faster on track than RS4? Dream on my friend.
The suspension is a whole generation better on the RS4. It is pointless to even compare.

It is like 3 generations better as the coupe suspension platform is essentially the same as the B2 quattro!

Stock suspension is bad but if you fit some nice suspension the coupe must be Better.less weight, better aerodynamics.....

Of course a stock rs4 has to be far faster than stock s2

the Coupe suspension is awful. The Avant B4 was way better with it's rear end, the The RS4 which has the exact same rear setup as the B4 Avant and then is a league ahead with it's new front end setup

Its not awful, it's primitive..... just like a K24 - sure there is better stuff out there but its cheap and reliable and gets the job done
Besides it only really matters when the car is in motion Jamo

I've driven my mate's s2 avant that's in a great condition with Rs2 arbs and koni suspensión and my coupe was far better handling and much more agility
Weight and aerodynamic counts a lot.

                      That's at least my experience

Error is on fire with witty comments these days

I'm with Jamo on this one, i couldnt drive a coupe now after getting used to an avant. They feel top heavy to me with too much roll and pitching in the corners. No doubt they would make a better car on a slippy surface, but the avant is so much more planted on the grippy stuff. Drove an RS4 recently and it was another step forward again, to me it felt lighter and even more planted than an avant, has an uncanny ability to hide its size/weight.

/back on topic. David is keen to borrow an RS2 turbo from me and try it for size, as neither of us have ever driven an RS2 spec car or anything more it will be interesting to see if the power delivery at low/mid range is to our liking.

I think what David wants to avoid is a setup they will feel like a step backwards below 4000rpms, torque and daily drive ability is the key. One of the things i love about a homefried K24 setup is being able to waft about using 1/3rd throttle and ~5bar boost around the city, we dont want to loose that effortless nature for the sake of high hp numbers at the top of the rev range. I have driven a 2871 car and it felt the same if not better than a K24 in that regard, but with a nice linear power delivery to the red line. I liked it but i think i prefer the way the KKK turbos give you that swell of torque in the midrange, hence i have an RS2 turbo stock piled.

With that in mind, what would you choose if you were building an S2 as a daily driver?

Is it the rough torque produced at about 3k rpm which is important here?

I think that for the cost a K26/27 hybrid upgrade is a very good option.

It is a big more laggy, but we are talking 150-200rpm or so, and in 4th to 6th gear I don't even notice it... it's still very daily usable imo. Just did a 1700km roadtrip to Normandie in France, and it's just a great setup with loaaads of torque in the midrange.

And performance wise I'm quite happy now. It's quicker than a Panamera GTS (430hp) and stayed even with a young Brit in a 997 GT3 today, having us both to eachother.

If I'd do the next thing, it would be other con-rods with GT3076-0.82... but bit scared for reliability on my favourite stuff, long roadtrips.

Dimitri, I know you're not Newsh, you are unique. ..

I must be confusing Newsh with someone else on here from the UK who recently bought themselves an B4 RS4 in navy ??? i.e. a few months ago. Anyone know who I'm thinking of ?

What I had in mind by way of my question, ( to Newsh ), was how does a std B5 RS4 compare with an ABY with a GT3071 in terms of onset of boost and comments on how each one feels.

I appreciate that the B5 will boost sooner, but was looking for a comparison of the GT3071 using the B5 RS4 as the benchmark. Had a go in a chipped B5 RS4 recently and it was better than I suspected it might be, given other comments of others on here who've also had a go in a B5 RS4.
