Hey guys, i have started to get rubbing occurring with the engine now rubbing against the oil cooler, im getting worried it will brreak into the oil system. Is this a sign that the engine mounts need replacing?

I accidentally, removed the front engine mount rubber for sometime, have since replaced it. But the rubbing is still occurring. Im npt sure whether to move the oil cooler or readjust the structure there, and updating the engine mounts. Anyone any suggestions?

I did this mod a few years back and have no rubbing. Is your engine moving a lot? Or did you route the pipes correctly/use the right length ones?

Mines got this mod and no rubbing, need to replace the mounts I used for the oil cooler though as they've failed but still holding it in for now

Im going to try to reposition the oil cooler. Atm One of the bolts is getting pushed up by the snub mount. Hopefully when i reposition it closer, this wont interfer and also have uprated engine and gearbox mounts on order too.

How did you make your mounting bracket? I elongated the mount holes so i had some adjustment.

Hey, yes I did the same. At the time I was working at my friends unit, so managed to find a sheet of aluminium. So the combination of the aluminium, the elongated holes on the mount. Plus using rubber blocks to absorb vibration, mounts the oil cooler nicely. Will take some photos again. Ideally would be better to use a thinker block of aluminium.

It probably just needs a tweak to stop it rubbing.

Hey so this is what I did to get it fitted better. Its not the greatest mod, but it does the job, and i havent got to time or facilities to do anything too extensive... but here you go.

Just a word of warning. When fitting these pipes, make sure you have some degree of slack. As I think my engine might have caused an oil pipe to separate. (I think engine mounts are on their way out). I fitted the oil cooler to a better position and it no longer rubs on the engine after the cambelt change. I had tried to loosen a pipefitting to reposition it, but it wasnt turning, and didnt want to break it, at the risk of seizing up. So i left it.. a bit of a mistake really. I also tied the mid part of the pipe to the engine using a zip tie.

Im still not sure how this happened. I know these cars push 4-5 bar of oil pressure through these hoses. Would the pressure itself of done this?

I have ordered a new cooler now as the threads were worn down from use, and ordered a replacement hose.
